CRM for Small Business Marketing

For small to mid-sized businesses looking to capture qualified, quality leads and build long-term relationships with their customers, CRM offers an efficient, cost-effective method for supporting multi-channel marketing efforts (e.g. email, search engines, social media). Software companies such as Apptivo and more recently Hubspot’s “free” CRM solutions offer web-based access (also known as Software-as-a-Service — SaaS) with single or even multiple user access for real-time collaboration to improve productivity and workflow.

  • Apptivo CRM & Billing (Starter version) — Apptivo offers an Internet-based application (now also available as an Android and iPhone mobile app) combining contact management, employee management, project management, sales and supply chain activity, and invoice management into a single, reliable, robust system for small to mid-sized businesses.
    • Starter version is FREE and covers 3 users with access to 40+ “apps” accessible in the Apptivo system
  • Hubspot CRM (free version) — As a provider of inbound marketing and automation software (typically priced beyond the small business budget), this “free-to-the-public” version enables SBOs/SMBs to connect with existing and prospecting customers anywhere the modern sales process takes place – emails, landing pages, inbound/outbound phone calls, across social media, and more to establish long-term relationships and lifetime customer value.

  • Insightly CRM (free version) — Based on Google Apps, Insightly is an affordable, cloud-based, flexible solution for small to mid-sized business. From CRM (Contact/Customer Relationship Management), project management, assigning and managing tasks to events scheduling, email notifications, file sharing & storage (DropBox, Google Drive, OneDrive) and social media integration, Insightly offers just about anything a budget-minded SBO/SMB would need, without staffing an IT person for set-up and support.

Features such as advanced scheduling and suggested content also allows me to distribute relevant postings at the optimal time for maximum exposure and engagement.
  • Twitter Cards — Twitter Cards are an awesome enhancement to liven up your Twitter postings beyond text and hashtags. Add images, videos, and a unique Call-to-Action to increase post engagement and drive customers to your website.
    • Lead Generation with Twitter Cards (for Twitter Ads) — See example below for a recent Twitter Card used with a free consultation offer to help generate new client leads.
    • Integration with email marketing providers such as Constant Contact and MailChimp can help with list building efforts. The email is extracted from the Twitter user’s account profile when the button is clicked.
